A guide to our knit tops

Back to blog

If you’re new to Wool&Prince, welcome. We’ve created an overview of our knit tops to help you easily find the one best suited for you.

You won't find these fabrics anywhere else.

We develop durable fabrics that can be lived in for weeks without a wash. It all starts with merino wool. For all the details as to why you’re better off wearing merino, you should read this

Fabric Trade-offs

We make a variety of knit fabrics and they all excel in their own way. You may find that your favorite fabric depends on the occasion or time of year, or maybe you just prefer the look of one over another.

The weight of our fabrics is measured in grams per square meter (gsm). The higher the number, the heavier the fabric. Generally, heavier shirts are going to be warmer, more durable, more wrinkle resistant, and have a cleaner drape (how the shirt hangs and moves with your body).

Fabrics

100% Merino

Jersey: 205gsm, 100% Merino. This is the fabric for the wool purists out there. It has a luxurious hand feel and drape, and is the most resistant to odor. But it won't match the durability of a blend.

Jersey Lite: 150gsm, 100% Merino. All the benefits listed above, in a lighter weight. You can find this fabric in our undershirts.

Blends

Jersey: 160gsm, 78% wool / 22% nylon. This is our most popular tee fabric. We spun a 17.5 micron wool core with two small nylon filaments to increase durability, reduce pilling, and improve shrink resistance.

Interlock: 300gsm, 78% wool / 22% nylon. We started with our wool/nylon yarn—the same as above—and then we bulked up the fabric using an interlock knit structure that keeps its shape and looks crisp after each wear.

Waffle: 270gsm, 78% wool / 22% nylon. At 270gsm, this is a heavier knit, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this fabric is only for the winter months. This garment can be worn comfortably in a wide range of temperatures thanks to the waffle structure coupled with the wonders of merino.

French Terry: 235gsm, 75% wool / 22% nylon  3% spandex. A midweight construction with spandex that stretches with your movements. The French terry interior traps air providing thermal regulation, while the exterior closely resembles our Jersey knit.

Wool Linen: 170gsm, 76% wool / 24% linen. Blending linen with wool gives this jersey fabric a beautiful slubby texture, which also creates an airy, light feel.

Pique: 190gsm, 78% wool / 22% nylon. The lofty “honeycomb” texture of the pique knit creates an airy next-to-skin feel for superior breathability and moisture transfer.
