I just bought my third light gray “170 Specialty Oxford Shirt”. This is one of my absolute favorites, and I’m so disappointed it’s being retired! I work in a corporate office environment and this shirt is one of my most versatile. I can wear it any day of the week, whether with a suit & tie for a meeting with a customer (the light gray is a great substitute for the classic white shirt & tie look) or with jeans at the industrial job site or for a date night. For me, the 170 weight is perfect; it’s durable, holds its form for multiple days, and can be worn in any weather. The 130 weight is great for hot days (or really any time), but I find the elbows eventually rip on the 130 weight. I’m a fan of the 210 as well, though too heavy for hot summer days. Wish W&P was going to keep making this shirt!
I just tried the 170 Specialty Oxford Shirt on a 5 day vacation to San Diego, CA. This was a Medium, Slim Fit which turned out to be a perfect fit for my 6'1", 162# torso. The shirt was unpacked and hung up upon arrival at the hotel and the next morning it was wrinkle free. The San Diego weather in February is 60 in the daytime and 50 at night with 5 to 10 mph wind. The shirt was comfortable all day long. I can't wait to see how it maintains this capability over the next year.
6' 200lb 54 y/o male. construction and style was great. fit was a bit tight. felt that large was marginally tight but XL would be too big by comments. my expectation was that the shirt was wrinkle resistant, but upon arriving it had creases that wouldnt "fall out". misted, let dry and looked much better, but packed the shirt and pulled out and it looked very wrinkled again. not going to meet my needs. returned. process was easy. no doubt shirt was well made and good looking, but dd not meet my needs as a nomadic traveler .
I am very impressed with the shirt; please consider an option for a shorter sleeve length choice; a shirt this nice at this price point should fit perfectly and not all of your customers are 6'1" like your models!
I bought three button downs in three different weights (130, 170, and 210) for a two-week trip. I wore each shirt at least two times, if not three times. This included wearing one on a transatlantic flight. I did not wash any of these shirts. I never wore one on consecutive days to allow time for each to air out before wearing again. I folded the shirts and packed them in my carry-on backpack. At each destination I would hang them on a hanger. I even got a compliment about wearing "a starched shirt" well into our travels (it was not starched, nor ironed - this was the 170-weight shirt but the others were just as good).
I'm a believer. I cannot speak to durability yet. But for performance, it's a five-star rating from me.
Note on fit: I am medium build and would not want the cuffs any tighter when buttoned. The sleeves were the proper length for me, leaning towards being too long rather than too short.
I am posting this review for each shirt weight that I bought. It applies to all three of them.
