When necessary, we recommend taking your shirt to the dry cleaners for a crisp look. You can also machine wash your shirt using normal cycle on cold with regular laundry detergent. Lay flat or line dry. Don't use drying machine.

We were tired of the dry cleaners, so we decided to make a better button-down (yes, we know you're looking at a spread collar). Relying on the natural benefits of merino wool, we designed these shirts designed to be worn more and washed less. Our founder wore his for 100 days straight, just to prove the performance of merino (side note, you can earn a free shirt doing the same).

Wonderfully comfortable - not very resilient

I have three of these shirts. All three are incredibly comfortable and fit fairly well (I’m a stockier guy and at 5’9 the sleeves are about 1” too long on a large). The breathability and comfort is amazing.

However, there are three issues with these shirts that I have. I’ve had these shirts for about a year. One I’ve had since July 2022 (it’s now August 2023), and two I’ve had since September 2022. All three have piling under the armpits which looks weird (I wear non fragrance non-aluminum deodorant and wear merino wool undershirts); I wash on gentle with detergent meant for wool clothing. The second issue is some stitching along the neck is starting to gray. The third is the button holes are enlarging and one has gone as far as to rip. I think these three issues could easily be solved by adding the stretch material to these shirts.

Again, these are the most comfortable shirts I own. I just wish they lasted longer than a year.

130 spread Collar Shirt

My initial impression was that the material quality was equal to that of the two button down collar shirts I ordered some months ago. As with all my new clothes, I put it in the wash according to the guidelines on the label. When the wash finished, the shirt smelled like stinky wet wool. I did not experience this with the two button down shirts. It was also heavily wrinkled though I think that will come out with a bit of ironing. I repeated the wash, gentle cycle cold water with the same results of the shirt smelling like stinky wet wool. Other than the smell, the initial “ try on” indicated I ordered the correct size.

Thank you for your review, Robert! We are glad to hear that the quality and fit are what you hoped it would be but sorry to hear that you are put off by the smell. Wool can have a smell to them during those first washes. This should subside with time and a few more washes. You could try washing the shirt with about 1/2C of plain white vinegar, then air drying, possibly outside. The vinegar is safe for the fabric, and should remove or neutralize anything causing an odd smell.
