130 Button-Down Shirt

Shirt looks great and fits well, but two buttons were poorly sewn on and had to be repaired on first wear. Shirt is also markedly more itchy than expected. I've worn Smartwool and this shirt was not nearly as soft even after a wash

My husband loves his new birthday-gift shirt, the 130 in tonal green plaid! He thought the wool was scratchy when he first put it on, but he knew that the other 160 button down he has would soften up nicely with use. We gave it a wash last night and it was dry the next day, for him to wear for his first day of teaching. He says it's "comfortable"!

I have been looking for a quality 100% Merino wool dress shirt since discovering the magic of merino wool on a trip earlier this year. After some searching I found Wool & Price might be the only company consistently offering quality poplin style wool fabric as office ready dress shirts. While I am price sensitive, I took the chance on a shirt and was presently surprised to find the fit was nice.

Sizing:
I typically wear a 38S Jacket and have a 32" waist. I am relatively skinny, but working to a more athletic build. I typically order slim cut shirts in Medium, but found the Small Regular cut to be a perfect middle ground. The roll of the button collar is perfection and lays nicely. With the top button unbuttoned the shirt remains business casual, but is still a bit formal. Definitely a perfect office shirt.

Wear Performance:
This is a true travel shirt. I have worn it 4 days now in an air conditioned setting. It feels new as the day I unboxed it and only needs to be hung overnight. It repels smell, although there can be a "wool smell" if it gets wet or humid. I recommend using a mineral or "Crystal" deodorant with cologne if you intend to wear multiple days as there will be no residue built up under the arms.

Value:
At $138, the shirts are priced similarly to quality off the rack shirts, but the quality is significantly higher just by virtue of being 100% Merino. For me the cut is superb, but getting to the right size took a few returns.

Intangibles:
Not knowing the return process was what initially held me off trying the shirt, but it turned out to be as easy as an Amazon return. Seriously. Happy Returns allowed me to be confident in getting the right size and style. Without it, I might have been less likely to buy.

FInal thoughts:
If you are looking to move to a more minimal lifestyle or are a serious business traveller, there is no better shirt. Easy recommendation.

I have 3 130's Quality and fit are perfect. My first is 2 years old and still looks and fits like new even after a couple of probably unnecessary washings. I prefer the dark buttons on my 2 new shirts.

This is a great shirt, I love the option to not have the pocket. Frequently smaller sizes and trim fit shirts end up with an oddly placed or oversized pocket, so the no pocket option is just right.
